In one of my posts, I promised to reveal to you the secret that is responsible for those great screen shots. Screen shots are useful teaching aids that reading specialist can use to make reading instruction more appealing and easier to follow. For example, if you have to teach children how to create a Google account in preparation to use Google docs, you can create an e-book using Microsoft PowerPoint and screen photos to get the job done in a very attractive way.
“PrintScreen” is a user friendly program that takes screen shots of your entire desktop or a part of it. It is completely free so you can download it off the internet and you are on your way to taking cool pictures of your screen. Just click away and have fun.
Hello Colin,
ReplyDeleteIt was indeed a pleasure to read all of your posts. It was even more interesting to learn from them. You are definitely displaying some fine attributes of a reading specialist which will take you along way in this field of work.
As reading specialists, it is very important for us to share our knowledge. In so doing, we will be able to form a powerful human resource tool which will demolish the walls of illiteracy in our country and who knows, in the region.
The use of technology will further enhance our professional work by connecting us with other people who are separated by waters and wars. In this way, all peoples will have a chance to become literate citizens.
hi colin
ReplyDeleteAnother fabulous tip i will look for this programme to try it out. There is also the option of pressing the Alt key and the Printscreen key on your keyboard.
Pressing these two keys allows you to take a snapshot of whatever is on your desktop/screen which you can then save in Microsoft Paint or any Photoeditor programme on your computer where you can make annotationss/note
Thank you, Denise, for reading all of my blogs. I am delighted that they were informative. Not being able to read is a really heartbreaking thing for many reasons. It can be dangerous. For example, if one cannot read signs such as “No trespassing”, “Danger” or “Beware of the dogs”. Next, it can be embarrassing, for instance one needs to fill in an insurance or bank form and has to tell the clerk that one cannot read. To avoid such things, (I remember reading in a novel about the teacher who could not read)he would come up with strategies to escape the humiliation such as always forgetting his glasses so that the clerk will fill in the form for him and he would just sign or always walking with a newspaper under his arm so that no one would ever suspect that he was illiterate. That is too much anxiety and mental exhaustion. Finally just think of all the ways one’s quality of life is diminished: one cannot follow a recipe to bake a cake or a delicious meal; one cannot read a manual to really enjoy the wonderful features of the device that one has purchased. One cannot eat in a fancy restaurant because one cannot make sense of the words on the menu. One cannot read a story book for entertainment. One cannot learn new things from reading, so higher education is not an option and limited opportunities follow that. One cannot even read the bible for spiritual support and salvation!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the information, Stacey.
